Today's
quotation:
The future is not a result of choices among alternative paths
offered by the present, but a place that is
created--created first in the mind and will, created next
in activity. The future is not some place we are going to,
but one we are creating.

Today's
Meditation:
Is
it possible that I'm creating my own tomorrow right here
and now? When I think about it, how can it be
possible that I'm not doing so? After all, my
decisions and actions today definitely will affect what
tomorrow will be like, no matter how tempting it may be to
deny that reality. And my actions and decisions
depend upon the way that I see the world and the people in
it, as well as how I see my place in it.
Most
people tend to perpetuate their current situations by not
changing the way they act or the things they do.
They may not be completely happy or content, but they feel
a certain comfort in acting in certain ways. And
just as their actions of last week, last month, and last
year have brought them where they are now, if they
continue to do things the same ways their tomorrows won't
be at all different. There will be nothing new and
exciting there because they haven't taken any actions at
all that could create that kind of tomorrow.
Many
people don't like the idea that we may be creating our own
futures, for they don't like to have that kind of
responsibility hanging over their heads. They don't
want to think that what they see as negative conditions
may be the result of their own actions, and that they
alone can change things for the better. Isn't it
easier to live with ourselves when our circumstances are
someone else's fault?
What
can I create today for my tomorrow? What can I do
today that will allow room in my tomorrow for positive,
uplifting conditions? And just how can I do those
things?
It
is, truly, up to me.
