Today's
quotation:
Keep your mind on the great and splendid things
you would like to do; and then, as the days go gliding by,
you will find yourself unconsciously seizing upon the
opportunities that are required for the fulfillment of
your desire, just as the coral insect takes from the
running tide the elements it needs. Picture in your mind
the able, earnest, useful person you desire to be, and the
thought you hold is hourly transforming you into that
particular individual.

Today's
Meditation:
It's
kind of a frightening thought, isn't it--that our thoughts
can help to shape who we become and what we accomplish in
life. If that's the case, then we won't be defined
by our jobs, and we won't be able to better ourselves
through any works or acts or deeds. Rather, who we
become will be determined by the thoughts we have about
who we wish to become.
Some
Native American tribes have a custom of putting one's
greatest wishes in a small box, and then focusing each morning when one wakes
up on
having those wishes come true. Think about it: by focusing on that desire
every day, first thing in the morning, you would be
training your mind to focus on the fulfillment of that
desire. And eventually, your thoughts will help that
desire become reality.
What
would you like to be? What would you like to
accomplish? If you think about that desire every now
and then, it can be very difficult to come closer to its
fulfillment. But if we grow accustomed to making
that desire one of the things that we think about
constantly, we'll start to see the opportunities arise
that will help us to achieve what we need to.
The
power of the mind to help us, to guide us, to actually
make things happen, has been very well documented
throughout history. But we tend to think that other
people can visualize success and make it happen, other
people can make their dreams become reality, other people
can make themselves into what they wish to be. But
we're all alike, and we've all been given the same
powers--the question is, will you trust yourself to use
yours to help yourself to become
the person you wish to be?
