Today's
Meditation:
What
a simple sentence this is-- and how full of wisdom and
compassion it is! I know that right now there are
many people in the world that I could give something to,
but I'm not doing so. Rather, I'm waiting for some
special occasion or another when the time will be just
right. Unfortunately, though, the time is rarely
just right, and if I don't give now, I may lose the chance
forever when tomorrow comes.
If
we do learn to practice giving regularly, if we are able
to give to people while they're still alive and can still
appreciate gifts of all kinds, then we can contribute a
lot of goodwill to this world. When other people
receive from us, they feel the positive intentions that we
have for them and the love that we're sharing by coming up
with just the right thing for them.
I
would love to get flowers. A bouquet of flowers
would brighten my day and make me feel wonderful.
And once I felt that way, I would be much more inclined to
pass on that joyful feeling-- as a result of the gift, I
would pass on even more of the love and feeling with which
the gift was made.
Don't
wait until someone is moving away to tell them you
care. Don't wait until you're moving away to let
someone know how you feel about them. Don't wait
until someone dies to send them flowers. If you
don't wait, your life will be filled with the brightness
of having given and the joy of having shared.
