Today's quotation:

Decide what you want.  Believe you can have it.  Believe you deserve it and believe it's possible for you.  And then close your eyes every day for several minutes, and visualize having what you want, feeling the feelings of already having it.  Come out of that and focus on what you're grateful for already, and really enjoy it.  Then go into your day and release it to the Universe and trust that the Universe will figure out how to manifest it.

Jack Canfield

Today's Meditation:

I don't necessarily believe fully in the Law of Attraction.  I read too much about how it will bring more material possessions in your life-- expensive cars and houses and clothing-- for it to be something that I truly subscribe to.  But I do know that there's a whole lot of validity in the idea of making sure that we keep our thoughts focused on the things we want rather than the things we lack.  In my own life I've seen myself attract more lack to myself because of my focus on lack; and I've also seen more abundance come into my life when I've focused on the abundance.

Athletes have improved performances by closing their eyes and visualizing better performances.  Many inventions are the result of people visualizing what they want to make and then doing so.  When we keep our minds on desired outcomes instead of telling ourselves "that's impossible," then we're opening a road that can lead us to the outcomes rather than putting up a roadblock that will keep us from them.

When I surround myself with kind people, I attract more kindness into my life.  When I keep my mind on the money I do have rather than focusing on the riches I don't have, I can attract more money into my life, often from unexpected sources.  When I spread love in appropriate ways, I can attract more love into my life.  Of course, we make a big mistake when we try to do these things simply to make things come to us-- that's more like manipulation than a truly valid way to live life.  And we need to be careful not to dictate the terms by which we want things to come to us-- we need to let life bring us the things we wish to have on its terms, not try to force it to do so on our terms.

We choose what we focus on, every minute of every day, don't we?  Personally, I want to focus on the positive so that I can share more positivity and love.  And the more I spread, the more comes back to me in various ways.  If you want to attract love, spread love-- but do so intelligently and appropriately.  If you want to attract money, spread money-- but do so intelligently and appropriately.  Life is ready and willing to give to you, but it won't do so if you're busy trying to attract material wealth or power that you'll use only for selfish reasons.  Try to attract things that will benefit all, and you may be surprised at what you see come to you!

Questions to consider:

How do we learn to focus so strongly on the things we lack?

What one thing would you like to attract more of to your life?  How much time do you spend spreading that one thing with the resources you already have?

Why do so many people talk about the Law of Attraction with such disdain?  What are they afraid of?

For further thought:

No person can become prosperous while he or she really expects or half expects to remain poor, for holding the poverty thought, keeping in touch with poverty-producing conditions, discourages prosperity.  Before we can lift ourselves, we must lift our thoughts. When we shall have learned to master our thought habits, to keep our minds open to the great divine inflow of life force, we shall have learned the truths of human endowment, human possibility.
